1st semester meeting in Durham - June 2017

The HyperOLED project officially started in  January 2017 and the partners decided to meet by the end of the 1st semester to discuss the advancement of project's activities and the achievement of the first milestones. Therefore, all the consortium members participated in the 1st semester meeting organised in Durham (UK) on the 1st of June 2017.

On the day before, our host from Durham University organised a laboratory tour at the Department of Physics for the consortium partners. This visit was highly appreciated by the HyperOLED members who discovered Durham University's research capacities and had the chance to talk with the laboratory staff and researchers directly involved in the project activities.

The HyperOLED consortium meeting went extremely well and many interesting discussions helped considerably to narrow the field of investigation to find and tune the best molecules to synthesize during the project. Each partners presented the work performed during the 1st semester and their plan over the next period. The coordinator Merck and Durham University are working together on the physics and chemistry aspects of the project.

During the 1st semester, the partner Microoled provided the partners with a report on the initial specifications for the white OLED stack. It is important for the whole consortium to define at the beginning of the project, what are the minimum requirements expected by the end-user, in our case the microdisplay manufacturer Microoled. The partner Fraunhofer also presented a comprehensive study about the anisotropic dispersion of organic thin films in encapsulated samples. The anisotropic molecular orientation will help the partners to develop OLED with enhanced performances.

Next consortium meeting will be held at Microoled premises in Grenoble (France), the 18th of January 2017.
